If you have taken a Savor Seattle Tour before, you may recognize us; we’re former managers and tour guides Matthew Bentley and Heather Refvem, and we are the new leaders of Savor Seattle Tours. After a three-year hiatus, we are excited to announce that Savor Seattle’s Tour operations will resume Thursday, May 11th, 2023, with the Signature Food and Culture Tour of Pike Place Market, and the Sunrise Stroll Tasting Tour of Pike Place Market.
Long story short…
Savor Seattle was founded in 2007 as the first food tour company within the Pike Place Market Community. For 13 years, Savor Seattle grew to become the premiere culinary walking tour company in Seattle. Sadly, in March 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic forced the shut-down of tour operations. With the hope that Savor Seattle might continue to bring guests amazing Seattle food experiences, we pivoted to curated food boxes sent to the customer’s home. While the business model evolved, this allowed the company to maintain our mission and commitment to the community we love.
Heather Refvem has deep roots as a fourth generation Washingtonian. After college, she moved to New York City to pursue an acting career, it was there that she became a Tour Guide for Foods of New York Tours. Eventually, she returned home and guided for Savor Seattle. In March 2020, Heather continued with Savor Seattle and through the “pivot” to curated food gift boxes when recently, she found herself in the unique position to lead the return of the tour operations, that is when she called on Matt…
Matthew Bentley has lived in the Seattle area since he was 6 years old and has had a life-long love affair with Pike Place Market. He has spent his years in Seattle as a tour guide, a musician, an artist, and an avid lover of the outdoors. With ten years of tour guiding experience, Matt began with Savor in 2018. During Savor Seattle’s hiatus from tours, he spent two years working with the Artists and Craftspeople of the Market Daystall community, furthering his connections there and strengthening his adoration for Pike Place Market.
Our 25 years of combined experience in the tourism industry and our dedication as members of the Pike Place Market community has us feeling confident and excited to ask our guests to once again… #followthepinkumbrella
